2 Days To Kickoff: NEW NIKE UNIFORMS; NEW No. 2 PLAYER
Georgia State's encore football season kicks off on Friday Night Sept. 2 under the bright lights of the Georgia Dome.
Bill Curry's Panthers will kick off at 7:30 against the cross town Clark Atlanta Panthers on 09-02.
Now an official Nike school, GSU will wear its new Nike uniforms for the first time when they run out of the tunnel Friday night. (A new introduction format, by the way, so be on time standing by your seats).
Now wearing No. 2 is sophomore speedster Albert Wilson. You might remember fast Albert from GSU's last game when he raced 97 yards to the end zone for a TD vs. Alabama. Wilson was No. 15 last year when he led the Panthers in all-purpose yards gained.
Warning: don't sit down on kickoffs with No. 2 in the game. In addition to the 97-yard TD, he had a 53-yard return in last year's inaugural game and a 50-yard return vs. South Alabama. Fast Albert also had a 51-yard pass reception last year, as well as 29-yard and 28-yard TD receptions.
Fast Albert knows his way to the end zone, as evidenced by his 33 touchdowns scored during his final two years in high school.
For the season opener on 09-02, the PantherZone tailgate area has been moved to the Brown Lot. The PantherZone is the designated area for games, contests, entertainment and game day giveaways as part of the tailgating. The Orange Lot remains a headquarters for alumni and other tailgating activities. Come early and join the tailgate fun.
