INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Georgia State University continues to set the standard for academic excellence in the Sun Belt Conference, leading all member institutions in the latest NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) report released by the NCAA national office.
Georgia State paced the conference with six programs earning perfect multi-year APR scores of 1,000 in conference-sponsored sports, based on data from the 2021-22 through 2024-25 academic years. The Panthers' top-performing programs include women's cross country, volleyball, men's basketball, beach volleyball, women's tennis and women's track & field—highlighting a department-wide commitment to success in the classroom.
The Sun Belt as a whole posted a strong overall multi-year APR score of 983, marking a fourth consecutive year of improvement for the conference. A total of 47 programs achieved perfect scores, underscoring the league's continued academic momentum. However, Georgia State stood alone atop the conference leaderboard, with the most perfect scores among its peers.
Georgia State also played a key role in the conference's top-performing sports. Sun Belt beach volleyball recorded the highest single-sport weighted multi-year APR (998), with the Panthers among the programs earning a perfect score. Women's golf across the conference also excelled, posting a 996 weighted APR.
The APR serves as a real-time measure of academic achievement for student-athletes, tracking eligibility, retention and graduation on a term-by-term basis. Each Division I program submits data annually to the NCAA, which calculates both single-year and multi-year scores to assess academic performance nationwide.
Georgia State's continued success in APR reflects the university's commitment to developing student-athletes who excel not only in competition, but in the classroom.
