17 Days To Kickoff:  GSU MARCHING BAND GROWS IN 2011

Georgia State's encore football season kicks off on Friday Night Sept. 2 under the bright lights of the Georgia Dome.

Joining in the excitement of the encore football season will be the ever-growing GSU marching band.

Dr. Chester B. Phillips, the director of athletic bands, reports that the band of about 130 inaugural members has grown to more than 190 members for its second season on the field.

The GSU band performs at all home games in the Dome and select road games, like the nearby trip to Alabama last year.

Tailgating starts early outside the Dome. The PantherZone tailgate area has been moved to the Brown Lot. The PantherZone is the designated area for games, contests, entertainment and game day giveaways as part of the tailgating. The Orange Lot remains a headquarters for alumni and other tailgating activities. Come early and join the tailgate fun.
