5 Days To Kickoff: JESSIE TUGGLE HAS HIS TICKETS
Georgia State's encore football season kicks off on Friday Night Sept. 2 under the bright lights of the Georgia Dome.
Bill Curry's Panthers will kick off at 7:30 against the cross town Clark Atlanta Panthers on 09-02.
Jessie Tuggle spoke to the Panthers on the first Sunday of training camp in August and will be at the big opener on 09-02 to cheer GSU on to victory.
Tuggle played 14 seasons in the NFL, earning Pro Bowl honors five times and leading the entire NFL in tackles during the decade of the 1990's. Tuggle set the NFL record for most fumbles returned for TD's and is still second all-time. His banner hangs from the Georgia Dome rafters.
Tuggle has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, the State of Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame.
Last year's Inaugural GSU game had dozens of celebrities and a record 30,000-plus fans in the Dome. Wonder who will be spotted at this year's opener and if that record of 30,000 can be broken?
For the season opener on 09-02, the PantherZone tailgate area has been moved to the Brown Lot. The PantherZone is the designated area for games, contests, entertainment and game day giveaways as part of the tailgating. The Orange Lot remains a headquarters for alumni and other tailgating activities. Come early and join the tailgate fun.
