ATLANTA – Opening a busy month of April with one of the toughest fields in all of college golf, the Georgia State men's golf team will travel out I-20 for the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational presented by Valspar beginning on Saturday.
The two-day, 54-hole event takes place at Forest Hills Golf Club, just a few miles from the gates of Augusta National Golf Club where The Masters will take place next week.
Some of the best golf teams in the country have competed in the event's 38 years of history, featuring several touring pros such as Davis Love III, Phil Mickelson (1989), Brad Faxon, Justin Leonard (1992), Vaughn Taylor (1998), Oliver Wilson (2001, 2003), Chris Kirk (2005), Scott Brown (2006), Dustin Johnson (2007), Henrik Norlander (2010), Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed, Beau Hossler (2016), to name a few.
The Panthers are looking to build some momentum with just two tournaments remaining before the conference championship at the end of April.

Teeing It Up:Â 15 teams will compete in the 54-hole event
Perfect Timing:Â Shotgun start on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., followed by tee times beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Who to Watch:Â Seniors Josh Edgar and Ashton Poole both have three top 25 finishes in the Panthers four spring tournaments and are also the top two on the team in scoring average.

Staying Busy:Â This will mark the second of three straight weekends with the Panthers competing across three different states (North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina).

History Here: Senior Josh Edgar shot opening and closing rounds of 72 the last time the Panthers competed in the event in 2019. Egill Gunnarsson shot a second round 72 that same year.
