Twenty-two members of the GSU track and field team earned academic recognition for the Fall Semester as the 30-member team combined to post a 3.36 GPA, the highest in the 12 semesters under coach Chris England.

Four runners achieved the highest status on the President's List with Sammi Donovan, Morgan Laushey, Nuria Ramirez and Lindsay Shealy making the 4.0 average required.

Nine competitors posted a GPA of 3.5 or higher to earn the prestigious Dean's List status. That group included Ifeouluwa Afon, Stephanie Berger, Tracy Dorcemont, Ravin Gilbert, Allyson Goff, Danielle Livingstone, Katherine Randolph, Jordan Townsley and Alysiah Whittaker.

Nine more team members posted a GPA above 3.0 to claim recognition on the A.D. Honor Roll for the semester. That group included Brianna Archer, Alicia Bermudez, Sharonda Bryant, Nylah Chavis, Sydney Davis, Melanie Hamilt, Alexandria Jackson, Carina Nieto and LaPorscha Wells.

 “I am proud of the team for their hard work and best effort in the classroom,” head coach Chris England said. “Both their classroom work and athletic competition require hard work and perseverance and I appreciate what they have been able to do. Seeing Most Outstanding Sun Belt Championship winners Ravin Gilbert and LaPorscha Wells also achieve academic success shows their strong desire to succeed. This is the best semester that track and field has had in my 12 semesters at Georgia State and I respect their hard work.”

The indoor track & field competition begins Friday, Jan. 8 at ETSU as the runners move ahead to their next sport before beginning spring semester classes on Monday, Jan. 11.
