Triple Jumper Nugent Advances to NCAA National Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Georgia State women's track and field standout Angelia Nugent produced another career record leap in the triple jump to place seventh at the NCAA East Regionals and advance to the NCAA National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, June 8-11, to highlight the Regionals for five GSU student-athletes this week. DAY THREE - SATURDAY

Senior Yolanda Berryhill fouled on her three attempts in the discus to end her brilliant GSU career.  

DAY TWO - FRIDAY

Junior Angelia Nugent turned in a career day to advance to the NCAA National Championships in the triple jump. On her seventh and final jump, the Paterson, N.J., (Cedar Shoals HS) native lept 12.77m (41-10.75 ft) to place seventh and advance to the NCAA Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa. She broke her own school record again, topping her Clemson qualifier mark of two weeks ago by .07 meters.

Tamara Moore also competed, running the 100-meter hurdles in 14.12 seconds, missing out on a spot at the quarterfinals.

On Sunday senior Yolanda Berryhill hurls the discus looking to qualify for Nationals for the first time.    

DAY ONE - THURSDAY

Junior Brandy Swann completed the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.77.

Sophomore Danielle Hill finished the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.29.

Neither advanced to the quarterfinals.

On Friday at 1 p.m., Angelia Nugent will begin qualifying rounds for the triple jump, while Tamara Moore will open the first round of the 100-meter hurdles.
