Personal Bests, Top Five Finishes Highlight War Eagle Invite

AUBURN, Ala. -- Three top three finishes by senior Shaquita Young (high jump), sophomore Alison Bishop (5,000m) and senior Danyel Mitchell (1,500m) highlighted the War Eagle Invitational for the Georgia State track and field teams.

Young tied for second in the high jump with a leap of 1.72m (5-07.75 ft).

Anna Sinclair finished fourth in the invitational version of the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:25.06. The new career best helped Sinclair top student-athletes from Georgia and South Carolina among others.

Three GSU runners placed in the top seven of the non-invitational 5,000m race. Bishop (3rd, 18:12.60), Kacee Houle (5th, 18.19.24) and Zanny Anderson (7th, 18:24.88) all ran GSU personal bests.

Mitchell placed second in the non-invitational version of the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:43.42.

Senior Yolanda Berryhill hurled the discus 47.16m (154-09 ft), good for fifth place and a new season best.

Redshirt-freshman Tamara Moore placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a new career-best time of 13.92.

On the men's side, junior Chris Harper placed ninth in the 1,500m with a time of 3:57.50.

A pair of distance runners finished in the top eight in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Tyler Tomy (9:53.41) and Warren Enriquez (10:13.94) placed fifth and eighth, respectively. Tomy's was a personal best.

GSU hits the road again next Saturday as the two teams compete at the Mississippi Open, hosted by the University of Mississippi in Oxford.
