Troy, Ala. - The Georgia State women's tennis team (7-0) rallied to defeat Troy (2-7), 6-1, in Troy, Ala., on Friday night to remain unbeated on the season. The Panthers lost all three doubles matches before rallying to win all six singles matches.
With the Panthers leading 3-1 overall in the match, sophomore Tereza Lerova clinched the match in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles over Troy's Karolina Grymel.
Georgia State fell behind early after losing all three doubles matches to give Troy a 1-0 lead.
Freshman Othilia Lindqvist tied the match after winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
Freshman Abigail Tere-Apisah gave the Panthers the lead for good after a 6-2, 6-2, victory at No. 2 singles. She improved to 4-0 in singles.
Senior Katerina Gresova won in straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-3, and improved to 5-1 in singles.
After Lerova's clincher, the final two matches were pushed into third set super tiebreakers.
Freshman Maryna Kozachenko lost the first set, 2-6, came back to win the second set, 6-3. Kozachenko won the super tiebreaker, 10-3, to remain perfect on the season at 7-0.
Junior Kir Kemp also dropped the first set, 2-6, came back to win the second set, 7-5. Kemp had to work hard to win the super tiebreaker 10-8, and she improved to 6-1.
Georgia State will return to action tomorrow to face Tulane in Troy, Ala. at 1 p.m. ET.
