ROME, GA – Georgia State Women's Tennis opened up the Sn Belt Women's Tennis Tournament with a rematch against in-state rival Georgia Southern on Wednesday morning. The Panthers got a singles victory from their top line starter
Maria Paredes, but her efforts were too little too late, as the team fell by a final score of 4-1.
Sveva Bernardi and
Sara Radojevic opened the day with a doubles victory on court two, knocking off their counterparts from Southern to give the Panthers an early advantage. The advantage was short lived, however, as the Eagles overwhelmed on courts one and three to take the opening point.
In what would prove to be her final collegiate match, Paredes turned in one of her strongest performances of the season. After dominating the first set with a 6-1 win, she closed out the straight set victory even more swiftly, blanking her top line courterpart by a final score of 6-0. Unfortunately for the Panthers, however, Paredes was the only Georgia State player to win a set in singles play. Georgia Southern closed out the match and ended the Panthers' season by a final score of 4-1.
