Rivalry Renewed at Sun Belt Women's Tennis Championship

ATLANTA, GA – The Sun Belt Conference announced seedings for the upcoming Women's Tennis tournament on Monday night. The bracket pits 13 seed Georgia State against 12th seeded Georgia Southern in the tournament's opening game on Wednesday, April 22.

The Panthers will renew their in-state rivalry with the Eagles, hoping to replicate their early season result — a 4-0 victory over Southern on February 8. The match, which will air on ESPN+, is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. eastern just 80 miles from Georgia State's campus at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia. The winner of the match will face fifth-seeded Texas State in the second round.

Georgia State's first matchup with Georgia Southern was one of their best performances of the season and decidely their best in Sun Belt Conference play. The Panthers secured the double point and quickly finished the job with straight set victories on each of the top three lines in singles.

The Panthers will hope to keep health on their side in the postseason, as their final regular season match marked the first time they had all six players start and finish singles play without injury in over a month.
