ATLANTA, GA- After a successful season for the Panthers,
Maleah Heard,
Keniya Walker and
Kayli Williams earn 2024 Sun Belt All-Conference honors, the SBC announced Friday afternoon.
Maleah Heard was named to the Sun Belt All-Conference first team after a historic season, highlighted by numerous personal and program accolades. The Las Vegas native marked personal bests in the 60-meter (7.57), 100-meter (11.40) and 200-meter (23.50) events, and posted seven top five finishes during the 2024 season. In addition to numerous personal-bests, Heard set program records in the indoor 200-meter (23.87) and outdoor 100-meter event (11.40). Her indoor record came at the 2024 sun Belt Indoor Championships, finishing third overall in the event. Heard also participated on the Georgia State 4x100-meter relay team that set the new program record time of 44.63 time, which was previously set in 2015.
The junior capped off the season with an outdoor Conference title in the 100-meter event to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. She will compete in the 100 and 200-meter events in Lexington, Ky. for a chance to represent Georgia State in the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore
Keniya Walker was named to the All-Conference second team after finishing second overall in the 400-meter event (53.97) at the Sun Belt Conference Champiosnhips to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Previously this season, Walker notched multiple personal and program bests to earn post-season honors. During 2024 season, Walker set personal best times in the indoor 300-meter (39.15)and outdoor 200-meter events (23.85), and broke the Georgia State record for the 400-meter event with a 54.95 time to finish second overall in the indoor SCB Championships.
Heard and Walker were named to the 2024 Women's indoor track and field All-Sun Belt teams earlier this season.
Junior
Kayli Williams was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference second team after scoring in two events at the Sun Belt Championships, highlighting a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.56 time to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Williams posted personal bests in the indoor 60-meter (7.96), indoor 60-meter hurdles (8.33), outdoor 100-meter hurdles (13.52) and 400-meter hurdles (1:01.53) during the 2024 season. The Philadelphia, Pa. native posted 12 top-five finished during the season.
Heard, Walker and Williams will represent Georgia State at the NCAA Regionals May 22-25.
