MacMillan Leads Panthers After Round 1 of Sun Belt Championships

MADISON, MISS. -- Connor MacMillan was Georgia State's top performer in Round 1 of the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship Monday at the Annandale Golf Club.

MacMillan carded five birdies in his even-par round on the Par-72, 7,190-yard layout, but the freshman from Canton, Ga., also managed two double-bogeys. He is tied for 12th in the individual standings, led by Brantley Scott of Troy who shot a 5-under 67.

Mason Dean is tied for 17th with a 73, while Hunter Smith and Jordan Jung each shot 76.

Georgia State stands tied for ninth on the team leaderboard with a 9-over 297. Troy paces the field with a 4-under 284, the only team under par today.

The teams continue stroke play with Rounds 2 and 3 on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Panthers will be paired with James Madison and Coastal Carolina for Tuesday's second round, with tee times beginning at 10:15 a.m. ET.
