Smith Leads Panthers on Day 1 of All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE, TEXAS -- Hunter Smith shot an opening round, 3-under par 69 to lead Georgia State on Day 1 of the All-American Intercollegiate.

Smith, the freshman from Statham, Ga., carded a round of 69 in his second straight tournament to stand in a tie for third place after one round. He followed with a 75 to sit in 15th place with an even-par 144 after 36 holes.

Jordan Jung (76-73) and Connor MacMillan (73-76) are the next Panthers at 5-over 149.

The strong field on the 7,067-yard, Par 72 layout at the Golf Club of Houston features six teams ranked in the Top 50. Georgia State scored 293 and 299 for a 16-over 592 after two rounds. Louisville, ranked No. 36, holds an eight-shot lead with a 10-under 566.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET. The Panthers are paired with Louisiana, Southern Miss and Lamar.
