Strickland Honored as National Player of the Week

Fourth different Panther honored over the last two seasons

Georgia State's Dylan Strickland was named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball newspaper after he hit .500 in four games last week with five homers and 10 RBI. 

The sophomore infielder from Loganvile High School went 7-for-12 with five homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored to lead the Panthers to a three-game sweep of Troy in which GSU scored 46 runs.

Strickland's five home runs came in a span of seven plate appearances over Games 2 and 3 of the Troy series. He homered twice in his final three at-bats in Game 2, and then he homered three times in his first four at-bats in Game 3. His three homers in the series finale tied the Georgia State single-game record.

For the week, Strickland posted a 1.571 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage, including 1.833 slugging and .667 OB in the Troy series.

For the season, Strickland leads Georgia State and ranks third in the Sun Belt with nine home runs. He is hitting .407 with 21 RBI.


Strickland is the fourth different Panther over the last two seasons to be honored as National Player of the Week, joining Max Ryerson (3x in 2022), Cameron Jones (March 14, 2022) and Luke Boynton (March 21, 2022).
