All-American and Georgia State standout
Kaleb Freeman, a native of Flowery Branch, Georgia, was selected in the 16
th round of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft, 466th overall, by the Chicago White Sox on July 14
th, 2025.
Freeman's route to the draft is a bit of a winding one, demonstrating his resilience and capacity to adapt. He started his playing career at North Georgia and continued at St. John's River State, where he posted standout numbers: in 2023 he hit .375 with a .548 on-base percentage and .755 slugging, leading his team in several offensive categories. Before coming to Georgia State, Freeman played at Auburn during the 2024 season.
During the 2025 season, while playing for the Panthers, Freeman set several school records before being drafted: 28 doubles, a .732 slugging percentage, .504 on-base percentage, and 61 walks.
Kaleb started his playing career with the ACL White Sox in Phoenix, AZ and continued to move up to the Low-A affiliate Kannapolis Cannon Ballers by the end of the season.
