Flanagan, Worrell and Walker sweep the 400m in Outdoor Season Opener

Georgia State track & field's outdoor opening weekend was highlighted by a podium sweep in the 400m by Imani Flanagan (55.99), Shadae Worrell (56.73 *PR), and Keniya Walker (56.94 *PR).

The Panthers opened the outdoor season at the River City Classic on Thursday March 16 – Friday March 17.

Celes Augustus was the first Panther to podium, placing third in the 400m hurdles (1:09.88). Jada McBean ran a personal best and finished fourth in the 200m (25.16).

The 4x100m relay team set the tone early on Friday with a first-place finish. Chelsea Tate, Camarii Tellis, Ashanti Tigner, and Maleah Heard ran a combined time of 45.37.

Kayli Williams then placed second in the 200m hurdles (14.39).

Outside of the podium sweep, several other Panthers ran personal bests in the 400m: 4. Blake Blakedmore (57.10), 10. Ashanti Tigner (60.63), 14. Celes Augustus (61.42)

On the field freshman Elizabeth Hayhurst finished third in the javelin throw (37.92m).

The 4x400m relay team (Maleah Heard, Chelsea Tate, Camarii Tellis, and Mariah Smith) closed out the River City Classic with a third-place finish (4:04.27).

The distance runners opened the outdoor season on Saturday, March 18 at the Emory Spring Break Track Classic, highlighted by the 4x800m relay team. Kennedy Morris, Ana Cubillo, Anouk Prop, and Emma Devis placed first with a time of 9:28.79.

The Panthers will be back at Emory next weekend for the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open Friday, March 25 – Saturday, March 26 before heading to the Texas Relays Wednesday, March 29 – Saturday, April 1.
