Panthers Conclude Maui Jim Invitational

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Freshman Hunter Smith led the way for the Panthers and finished tied for 38^th at 2-under par in his collegiate debut as the team finished their final round at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate.

Hunter Smith and Jordan Jung were both able to record final scorecards under par and will look to continue their high level of play when the Panthers return to action.

Georgia State, which was hosting the event despite being in Arizona, finished in 15^thahead of UNLV, UCLA, and NC State in a very competitive field. The Panthers recorded an opening round score of 282, a second round of 274 and closed out today with a 285.

"We fought hard today after losing Mason to injury early in the round. Tough break but the rest of the squad battled hard to give us a decent finish. Proud of Hunter Smith for finishing his first college event under par and can't wait to compete again at the J.T. Poston in a few weeks." head coach Chad Wilson said.

Auburn finished at 45-under par which was enough to win the tournament as Tennessee's Caleb Surratt took home the individual championship at 18-under par.

Georgia State wraps up at the Mirabel Golf Club and will have their eyes set towards the Country Club of Sapphire Valley for the J.T. Poston Invitational Sept. 26-27.
