Sun Belt Champion Marine Garnier Highlights Conference Meet

ATLANTA - Georgia State distance runner Marine Garnier captured the Sun Belt Conference title in the 3000-meter steeplechase to become a two-time Sun Belt champion, highlighting the Panthers' performance at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championship in Lafayette, La.

Garnier, the senior from Pace, France, ran a personal-best and facility-record 10:28.15 in the 3000 SC, easily winning the Outdoor Sun Belt championship by more than 12 seconds.

She also placed sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:06.30 for a total of 13 points in the meet.

Georgia State's 4x100-meter relay team of Chelsea Tate, Jaeda Hunt, Ashanti Tigner and Maleah Heard placed third with a time of 45.37.

Hunt had a strong meet, also scoring in the long jump with a fourth-place jump of 19-09.75, her season best, and the 200 meters, in which she ran a personal-best 23.79 for a fifth-place finish.

Also scoring points for Georgia State were Kennedy Morris, 800 meters-5th place (2:17.70) and 
Simone Harper, 100-meter hurdles-5th place (14:00). Harper ran a personal-best 13.77 in the prelims.

The Panthers placed ninth in the team standings with a total of 36 points.
