TROY, ALA. - Hallie Adams pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout to earn the 4-0 victory over the Troy Trojans (22-10, 8-4 Sunbelt) Sunday in Game 3 at the Troy Softball Complex.
Adams allowed just one hit in the sixth while striking out four over 7.0 innings. She improved to 4-6 on the season.
Both teams battled defensively and came out scoreless through the fifth.
Georgia State had two big innings, the sixth and the seventh, getting on the board in the top of the sixth when Jackie Gonzalez stole second and then advanced home on a triple by Emily Brown. Skylar Chavez earned an RBI by bringing in Brown, putting the Panthers up 2-0.
Two more runs scored in the seventh with two outs on doubles from Gabby Benson and Sophie Mooney and a single from Emily Brown.
The Panthers clinched the game 3 win with a web-gem and throw to first by Daisy Hess for the second double play of the game.
Leanna Johnson (14-5) took the loss for the Trojans allowing five hits and four runs in 2 innings.
The Panthers will travel to face No. 17 Auburn at the Jane B. Moore Field on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. ET.
