ATLANTA – Georgia State's head softball coach Becca Owens announced the addition of Kevin Olmstead to her coaching staff ahead of the 2027 season.

Olmstead will take on the Assistant Softball Coach position, as announced Tuesday. This addition completes Owens' staff as she moves into her third season as the Georgia State head coach.

Olmstead previously spent five seasons working as an assistant with Oregon Tech's baseball program. He served as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator in his fifth season, along with working alongside infielders. He had previously worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach while working with the outfielders.

Before Oregon Tech, he worked for two seasons at Lassen CC. In 2020, he helped the Cougars reach a 20-5 record before the season ended due to COVID.

Olmstead is a former professional baseball player with stints in Puerto Rico and the Empire League. He has gained coaching experience from his time managing the Grant Pass Nuggets AAA American Legion program in 2024 and in 2025, became the head coach of the Medford Rogues, a summer collegiate baseball team. In 2026, he was named the league's Coach of the Year.

Coach Olmstead earned a degree in business from York College in 2018 while receiving a master's in Exercise Science with a sports administration emphasis.
