ATLANTA – Olmstead will take on the Assistant Softball Coach position, as announced Tuesday. This addition completes Owens' staff as she moves into her third season as the Georgia State head coach.

Olmstead enters his ninth season as a collegiate coach after most recently serving as the recruiting coordinator for Reinhardt University baseball. Prior to Reinhardt, Olmstead spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Oregon Institute of Technology baseball program.

During his fifth season at Oregon Tech, Olmstead served as the team's hitting coach and recruiting coordinator while also working closely with the infielders. Earlier in his tenure, he served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach while working with both infield for 5 years and outfield for 3 years.

While at Oregon Tech, Olmstead helped transform the program into a national contender. After joining a team that had won just four games in 2020, the Owls won 23 games in his first season. In 2023, Oregon Tech captured the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship for the first time since 1983. In 2025, Olmstead helped lead the Owls to a school-record 39 wins and the program's first-ever appearance in the national tournament.

As a defensive coach, Olmstead has helped develop more than 12 players who earned Gold Glove honors in their respective conferences. In 2025, Oregon Tech ranked second nationally in fielding percentage.

Before joining Oregon Tech, Olmstead spent two seasons at Lassen Community College. In 2020, he helped lead the Cougars to a 20-5 record before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Olmstead is a former independent professional baseball player who spent time playing in the Empire League. He has also gained head coaching experience at multiple levels. In 2024, he managed the Grants Pass Nuggets AAA American Legion program. In 2025, he became the head coach of the Medford Rogues, a summer collegiate baseball team. During the summer of 2026, Olmstead was named Pacific Empire League Coach of the Year.

Olmstead earned a bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Sports Management from York University in 2018. He also earned a master's degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
