Panthers Run in Sun Belt Conference Championship Comes Up Just Short

EL DORADO, Ark. –  The Georgia State men's golf team battled to the end in the Sun Belt Conference Championship semifinal round before falling 3-2 to No. 1 seed Georgia Southern at Mystic Creek Golf Club.
 
With the No. 4 seeded Panthers and the Eagles tied 2-2, the match came down to the individual battle between Georgia State's Jake Milanowski and Ben Carr of Georgia Southern. That match was even until Carr won the 12th hole and went on win, 3 and 2, to seal the victory for Georgia Southern.
 
Georgia State's Will Chambless won his pairing against Brantley Baker, 3 and 2, and Jacob Kephart won his match against Mason Williams, also 3 and 2.
The Panthers qualified for match play for the first time since 2017 by finishing fourth in stroke play. Georgia State is now 3-2 all-time in match play in the conference tournament with a 15-9-1 individual match record.

Kephart was Georgia State's top individual in stroke play, finishing in a tie for fifth.
