Mugnier, Sertl, Lead Panthers at Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Ala. – Maxence Mugnier and Owen Sertl each shot opening round scores of 1-under par, 71 to lead the Georgia State men's golf team following day one of the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner.

With weather expected to play a factor on Monday, the 16-team field got through a majority of the second round before play was halted due to darkness. Play will resume on Monday morning with the conclusion of Round 2, followed by Round 3.

Unofficially Georgia State has moved into a tie for third place at 1-under par with members of the team having three to five holes to play in Round 2. Mugnier has moved up into a tie for seventh at 3-under par with five holes to play.

Georgia State shot an opening round 2-over 290 and stood in seventh place following the first completed round.

Sertl made four birdies and an eagle during his opening round, while Mugnier finished with three birdies and an eagle. Senior Jake Milanowski also scored an eagle for the Panthers during the first round.

"We were really close to having a great opening round," head coach Chad Wilson said. "We just had a couple of big numbers that derailed us. Hopefully we can finish the second round strong and play well in the third. If we do, we should earn a great finish."

Florida Gulf Coast led the field at 14-under par after the first round, while Eagle Brady Madsen and Louisiana Tech's Mac Murphy were tied for first at 8-under par.

Georgia State is returning to the event for a seventh time in eight years. The Panthers have earned top five finishes in four of the last six tries.
