Panthers Third Following Opening Round of Craft Farms Intercollegiate

GULF SHORES, Ala. – With four golfers among the top 25, the Georgia State men's golf shot one of its best rounds of the year and stands in third place following the opening round of the Craft Farms Intercollegiate at the Craft Farms Golf Resort.

The Panthers made 21 birdies on Sunday, tied for the most in the field, and shot an even par 288 to stand in third place with 36 holes to play.

Jordan Jung led the Panthers with an opening round 1-under par 71 to stand in a tie for ninth after making four birdies on day one.

Sophomore Maxence Mugnier is tied for 14^th but had arguably the most adventurous round of the day shooting an even par 72. His round feature eight birdies, three bogeys, one double bogey, and one triple bogey.

"We made a ton of birdies which was obviously a great thing," head coach Chad Wilson said. "However, we also had some big numbers which cost us a chance to be closer to the lead. If we can clean some things up the next two days, we have a chance to be right at the top on Tuesday afternoon."

Host South Alabama leads the 13-team field at 11-under par. Southern Illinois' Matthis Beseard and South Alabama's Jack Hearn are tied for the individual lead at 5-under par.
