Panthers Return Home to Face Kennesaw State on Saturday

ATLANTA- With five consecutive wins including four on the road, the Georgia State women's tennis team returns to Atlanta this weekend to host Kennesaw State on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. ET. Currently 5-3 on the season, the Panthers will look to extend the winning streak as the team closes out the month and enters a five-match home stretch.

March will see GSU host six of eight matches at home throughout the month of competition. With Saturday's match being only the second home outing for the Panthers this spring, this weekend's return to Atlanta will offer the team an opportunity to defend its home courts once again in hopes of finishing out the month of February unbeaten nearing the second half of the 2022 campaign.

Receiving Sun Belt Player of the Week honors for her trio of strong performances last weekend, junior Angel Carney has helped lead the way for GSU this spring with five straight victories in singles competition. Also undefeated in doubles play with a perfect 7-0 record while partnering with teammate Sofya Golubovskaya in the No. 1 position, Carney has posted dominant play in all five victories for the Panthers with the team having already surpassed its win total from a year prior.

Senior Andreea Stanescu has also seen victory in four straight singles matches while splitting time between the No. 2 and No. 3 positions for the team, and Ellie Aldrich has posted wins in four of her last five outings with one match unfinished. Securing the winning point over Elon in the No. 6 position for the Panthers, Aldrich has now been responsible for two match-clinching victories.

GSU will play host to KSU at the GSU Clarkston Courts on Saturday. Live stats will be available.
