Panthers Set to Travel for Matches Against UNC Greensboro, Elon

Greensboro, N.C.-  Continuing its spring 2022 campaign, the Georgia State women's tennis team will travel to North Carolina this weekend for a pair of matches on the road. Improving to 3-3 on the season after posting three consecutive wins last weekend, the team will look to follow up the recent success as GSU faces UNC Greensboro on Friday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. ET and Elon on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. ET.

The sweep in match play served as a much needed boost in confidence and momentum for GSU. In a weekend that saw two shutout victories and dominant play from the team as a collective, the Panthers returned to play after a month off from competition and positioned themselves favorably moving forward.

Angel Carney posted stellar performances in all three of the team's matches, ultimately being nominated for Sun Belt Player of the Week honors after going undefeated in both singles and doubles competition. The highlight of the triple-header came in the Panthers' second match against Mercer on Friday as Ellie Aldrich was responsible for a match clinching win in three sets as she rallied from behind for a victory.

Friday's match against UNC Greensboro will take place at the UNCG Tennis Courts in what will mark the first ever meeting between the two teams. In a quick turnaround, the Panthers will then travel up the road to take on Elon at Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Saturday as the team attempts to secure another victory in its second ever match against the Phoenix.
