Late Goal Lifts #21 West Virginia to 2-1 Win Over Men's Soccer

Box Score MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – No. 19 West Virginia scored with less than two minutes remaining to give the Mountaineers a 2-1 win over the Georgia State men's soccer team on Thursday afternoon at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

Georgia State (10-5-0, 2-3-0 MAC) lost for the second-straight time for the first time this season which will now set-up a must win situation next week against Georgia Southern to get one of four spots in the upcoming MAC Tournament.

West Virginia (9-2-4, 2-1-1 MAC) moved ahead of the Panthers in the conference standings and still has two games to play in league action. The top four teams in the league will compete Nov. 10-13, for the conference title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The winner came from Jaeggi Bourlout who found the back of the net for the Mountaineers off a perfect pass from Ryan Crooks with the 88th minute to secure the win and complete the second half comeback.

Georgia State got on the board in the 24th minute on a George Proctor penalty kick. It was the defender's fourth goal of the year, all of which have come via PK's. The four goals are tied for the second-most on the team.

The Panthers went into halftime leading 1-0 thanks to outshooting West Virginia 4-2 in the first 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the Mountaineers flipped the script in the second half outshooting GSU 11-2.

Dyon Dromers, in his first appearance since Sept. 3, tied the game for the Mountaineers in the 58th minute from about 25 yards out into the upper right-hand corner of the net. The score remained tied until two minutes to play.

Gunther Rankenburg, who leads the MAC in saves, recorded four more on Thursday afternoon.
