ATLANTA- In the upcoming weeks we will be honoring this year's senior class. This week's spotlight is on Georgia native Kevin Huynh.
Huynh began playing tennis at age five with his twin brother and fellow Panther teammate Steven. A resident of Alpharetta, he shined during his high school career at Chattahoochee where he played at the No. 1 spot during singles and doubles action. During his high school career he twice earned the conference title.
Huynh made an immediate impact as a player on the men's tennis team. During his first year he garnered six victories in the No. 5 singles position during the dual action. Twice he earned the match-clinching point for the Panthers. Additionally, he entered his freshman campaign ranked No. 56 in the country in doubles with his partner Giles Hussey.
The computer information systems major has continued to make an impact on the program collecting wins in spots No. 4-6 in the singles lineup. Huynh also has the ability to find success with various partners during doubles play. The senior has helped the Panthers advance to two consecutive Sun Belt Championship appearances. This year Huynh's biggest goal is to clinch the tournament title to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
During his time as a student-athlete Huynh has gained valuable leadership and time management skills that he will carry with him in the next chapter of his life. In the classroom he has shined, earning individual academic honors for six semesters. Upon graduation, Huynh plans on working in the data analytics field.
"Georgia State has given me opportunities that I never thought I would get," said Huynh. "Coach Wolff and everyone in athletics have made it the most amazing four years of my life. I have made lifelong friends and teammates. I could not ask for a better university than Georgia State."
