Gunnarsson Continues to Lead Men's Golf at Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Ala. – The Georgia State men's golf team shot a second round 11-over 299 to now stand in a tie for 14th place following two rounds of the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner at Grand National Golf Club.

Senior Josh Edgar led the Panthers with a 1-over 73 on Monday to move into a tie for 28th at 3-over par with 18 holes to play on Tuesday.

Fellow senior Egill Gunnarsson is leading the Panthers on the leaderboard in a tie for 17th. He shot a 4-over 76 on Monday and stands at 1-over par thru 36 holes.

Georgia State is tied with Chattanooga at 19-over par. The Panthers are just one stroke back of No. 45 Arkansas State and three strokes behind No. 41 James Madison for 11th.

"We got off to a great start in calm conditions this morning," head coach Chad Wilson said. "Unfortunately, conditions got a little tougher and we just didn't execute well. We missed a lot of short putts and when the conditions are like this, you have to make those that are within five feet."

Sophomore David Li added a 2-over 74 and sits in a tie for 56th entering the final round. Li birdied four of the first five holes, but unfortunately was not able to make another the rest of the round.

Seniors Ashton Poole and Severin Soller each shot 4-over 76's on Monday. Poole is tied for 63rd at 8-over par, while Soller is tied for 73rd at 10-over par.

ULM fired a second round 6-over 294 to now sit at 2-under par and own a one-stroke lead entering the final round. Auburn's B-Team is in second place at 1-under par, with Auburn's primary team, ranked No. 15 in the country, in third place at 1-over par. North Alabama is in fourth place at 6-over par with Western Kentucky rounding out the top five at 10-over par.

North Alabama's Jackson Wedgeworth shot a second-straight 4-under par 68 to hold the 36-hole lead at 8-under par. Auburn's C.J. Easley is in second place at 5-under par, while ULM's Otto Van Buynder and Western Kentucky's Tom Bevington are tied for fourth place at 3-under par. A group of four golfers are tied for fifth at 2-under par.

Live scoring of the entire tournament will be available at Golfstat.com. Georgia State will be paired with Chattanooga and Auburn's B-Team for Round 3 beginning at 9:27 a.m. ET off the 10th hole.

Following this week's event, Georgia State will return to the course for the Schenkel Invitational hosted by in-state rival Georgia Southern at Forest Heights Golf Club March 13-15.
