Meyberg Claims Two Championships at Indoor Meet

Meyberg won both the 3000m and 5000m this week at the Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Lotte Meyberg earned two conference titles Monday and Tuesday at the 2020 Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships to help Georgia State to a fifth-place finish.

Meyberg tied for Top Meet Scorer with 20 points after winning both the 5000m on Monday and the 3000m on Tuesday. She now has three Sun Belt Track and Field titles along with the 2019 Sun Belt Individual Cross Country Championship.

Angela Alonso missed becoming a two-time Sun Belt champion in the Mile by just .05 seconds, placing second in the event. Alexus Shaw placed second in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.39m and Jada Watson took third in the high jump at 1.69m.

In the Long Jump, Alexus Shaw and Jaeda Hunt finished fourth and fifth, respectively and Anouk Prop claimed fifth in the 800m. Emma Devis added more points for GSU with a fourth place finish in the Mile.

The Panthers scored 68 team points for fifth place in the standings. Since Georgia Southern finished below the Panthers, GSU earned another point in the #StateNotSouthern Rivalry Series.
