Men's Soccer Sweeps Sun Belt Awards For Third-Straight Week; Rankenburg and Briggs Honored

ATLANTA – Georgia State senior Aris Briggs and sophomore Gunther Rankenburg swept the Sun Belt Conference weekly honors as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. It marked the third-straight week a pair of Panthers swept the honors.

Briggs, the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, led the Georgia State offense to a pair of impressive wins last week. This marks the second time in three weeks that Briggs has been honored.

Briggs opened the week recording a pair of assists in Georgia State's 4-0 win over UAB. On Sunday he recorded a goal and an assist as the Panthers topped Georgia Southern 2-0 to open conference play with a win.

Rankenburg recorded back-to-back shutouts in two Georgia State wins last week while making his first two starts of the season.

The sophomore led the Panthers to a 4-0 win over UAB on Wednesday night while recording three saves.

He then led Georgia State to a 2-0 win over in-state rival Georgia Southern on Sunday. With the help of the Panther backline, Rankenburg didn't face a shot on goal against the Eagles.

Georgia State will return to the pitch and look to remain undefeated when the Panthers travel to face Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Conway, S.C.
