LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Georgia State men's soccer turned in a strong defensive effort on the road Friday night but fell 1–0 to No. 18 Kentucky at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats broke through in the 81st minute when Isaiah Chisolm finished a low cross from Alex Ruiz for the lone goal of the match.
The Panthers (4-6-6, 2-3-3 Sun Belt) matched the nationally ranked Wildcats in chances throughout the night, recording 13 shots with four on target. Pavel Romero-Garmendia led the attack with three shots, including two on goal, while Virgil Dall'Agnol and Gavin Williams each added a pair of attempts.
Goalkeeper Loan Marin recorded one save and directed a disciplined Georgia State back line that limited Kentucky to just two shots on goal despite 11 corner kicks.
Georgia State will continue Sun Belt play next week, returning home for its final regular-season match before the conference tournament.
