ATLANTA – Georgia State men's soccer standouts
Aris Briggs and
Kyle Clinton continued to collect postseason accolades for their success on and off the field, as the pair earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region First Team on Monday.
Briggs and Clinton, who each were selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region team last week, have also excelled in the classroom as each player maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better (on a 4.0 scale). The pair represented two of only three players from the Sun Belt to earn Scholar All-South Region First Team honors.
Briggs, the 2019 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the year, netted 16 goals for the Panthers and finished tied for seventh in scoring among all players in Division I men's soccer. The Memphis, Tenn., native finished first the conference in total points (33), points per game (1.65), goals (16) and goals per game (0.80). Briggs posted a 3.31 GPA while majoring in exercise science.
Clinton, a two-time Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year and four-time All-Sun Belt First Team honoree, anchored a GSU back line that recorded eight shutouts this season, tied for the most among all teams in the league. The Havant, England, native appeared and started in 17 matches for the Panthers in 2019, logging over 1,600 minutes on the pitch. He had a 3.74 GPA while majoring in exercise science.
