COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Georgia State men's soccer team fell 3-1 on the road at South Carolina Saturday night, with senior Amiri Abraham scoring the lone Georgia State goal.

The Panthers fell to 5-4 on the season while the Gamecocks improved to 5-3.

The Panthers looked to rally coming out of the half, but South Carolina set the tempo of play and shut down the Georgia State offense. The Gamecocks scored quickly in the second half, with Luca Mayr widening the deficit to 2-0 in the 49th minute of play.

Ben Davidson scored the final goal for the Gamecocks with 25 minutes left in the match, putting the score at 3-0. Abraham was able to prevent a shutout, scoring the ball on a deflection from Andrew Thompson with just seven seconds left in the match.

Junior Yannic Horn was among the leaders in the defensive effort for the Panthers, making six saves during the match.

The Panthers will return to the pitch Tuesday night at Duke in the final match of a three-game road stretch before returning to Panthersville on Oct. 2 to host the University of Pacific.
