Alex Herrmann Leads Panthers at Maui Jim Invitational

What You Need to Know:
* The Georgia State men's golf team shot a second round even par 284 to move up to a tie for eighth place entering the final round of the inaugural Maui Jim Invitational in Scottsdale, Ariz.
* Junior Alex Herrmann recorded an eagle and birdie on two of his final three holes to shoot a 2-under 69 and move into a tie for 27th.
* LSU shot a second round 13-under 271 and holds the 36-hole lead at 27-under. LSU's Luis Gagne shot a second-straight 65 and leads all individuals at 12-under par.


SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Led by a 2-under 69 from junior Alex Herrmann, Georgia State shot a second round even par 284 to move into a tie for eighth place entering the final round of the inaugural Maui Jim Invitational at Mirabel Golf Club.

LSU shot a 13-under 271 to move to 27-under par and hold a two-stroke lead over Kent State which is at 25-under par entering play on Sunday. Baylor sits in third at 23-under, followed by South Carolina in fourth at 19-under par. Georgia Tech rounds out the top five at 12-under par. Georgia State remains tied with Cal for eighth at 1-over par.

LSU's Luis Gagne shot a second-straight 65 and leads the field by two at 12-under par. South Carolina's Scott Stevens is second at 10-under par, followed by Baylor's Braden Bailey in third at 9-under. Georgia Tech's Chris Petefish, Baylor's Garrett May, Kent State's Ian Holt and Kansas' Chase Hanna are tied for fourth at 7-under.

Herrmann finished strong with an eagle on his 16th hole (No. 7) and birdie on this 17th (No. 8) to move into a tie for 27th with one round to play.

“Overall, we played better today,” head coach Joe Inman said. “We didn't make nearly as many birdies, but did make a couple of eagles and did not count anything worse than a bogey. I still think we have a really good round in us and if we do that on Sunday, we should be able to move a few spots up the leaderboard.”

Senior Nathan Mallonee and sophomore Nathan Williams stand tied for 37th at even par. Williams shot a second-straight even par 71, making a pair of birdies, while Mallonee shot a 73 with three birdies.

Sophomore Nick Budd also shot 71 on Saturday and is tied for 51st at 2-over par after making four birdies.

Junior Max Herrmann rounded out the Panthers line-up with a 7-over 78 on Saturday and is in 87th at 11-over par.

Freshman Josh Edgar, making his collegiate debut, shot a 6-over 77 and stands tie for 76th at 7-over par.

The Panthers will be paired with Georgia Tech, Kansas and Houston on Sunday going off at 10:11 a.m ET. Tee times for the field begin at 10 a.m. ET off Holes No. 1 and No. 10.
