MARANA, Ariz. – Georgia State shot a second-straight 6-over 294 to finish in 11th place at the NCAA Tucson Regional at Gallery Golf Club on Wednesday. Sophomore Alexander Herrmann finished tied for 26th at 3-over to lead the Panthers.

Needing to finish among the top five teams to advance to the NCAA Championship, Georgia State's season comes to an end after qualifying for NCAA Regional play for the third-straight year. The Panthers finished at the event at 27-over.

Herrmann made four birdies en route to a final round 74, just missing an eighth top 25 finish this season.

“This team has come a long way since our first event back at Kiawah in the fall,” head coach Joe Inman said. “Obviously we are disappointed that the season has come to an end, but the future continues to be bright for our program.

“What can I say about JJ Grey. For four years, he has been everything I could ask for in a student-athlete. He will be missed in a lot of ways, but the future is extremely bright for one of the finest young men I have had a chance to coach.”

Freshman Nick Budd led the Panthers with a final round 72 to finish at 13-over and in a tie for 62nd place making his NCAA Regional debut.

Junior Nathan Mallonee added a 1-over 73 making three birdies to finish tied for 57th at 11-over.

Sophomore Max Herrmann added a 3-over 75 to finish 12-over in a tie for 59th.

Grey, playing in his final collegiate tournament, shot a final round 76 to finish at 9-over and tied for 50th. It marked just the second time this season finishing outside the top 25 for Grey.

Grey finishes his career with 149 rounds played, including 78 of par or better, which are both school records. His 72.40 career scoring average is the second-lowest in school history only behind the 72.24 scoring average of Kasper Jorgenson (2002-04).
