GREENSBORO, N.C. – Led by sophomore Nick Budd who shares the individual lead, the Georgia State men's golf team sits 11th at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate at the Grandover Resort.

Budd shot rounds of 67 and 69 to stand at 8-under par following the first day of play. He made six birdies in each round, including a stretch of four-straight on the back nine during the second round.

“It was a roller coaster day for us,” head coach Joe Inman said. “We got off to a bit of a slow start, but then really got it going in the second round. Unfortunately we gave it all back at the end. This team has the ability to shoot a really good number on this course and hopefully we can do that on Monday and move up the leaderboard.”

Junior Alexander Herrmann shot rounds of 74 and 70 to sit at even par and tied for 37th entering the final round.

After an opening round 70, senior Nathan Mallonee shot 78 during the second round and is tied for 53rd at 4-over.

Freshman Josh Edgar shot rounds of 74 and 75 and is tied for 60th at 5-over par, while junior Max Herrmann shot 76-75 and is tied for 65th at 7-over par.

Freshman Egill Gunnarsson, competing as an individual, shot rounds of 76 and 72 and is tied for 53rd at 4-over par.

No. 38 Northwestern is in second place at 19-under par, while Iowa State and No. 34 Liberty are tied for third at 17-under par. NC State rounds out the top five at 15-under par. Despite standing in 11th, the Panthers are just three strokes out of seventh place.
