Pair of Hat Tricks Highlight 10-0 Exhibition Win

Georgia State opened its exhibition season with a dominating, 10-0, win over Georgia Southwestern Tuesday night at the GSU Soccer Complex. A pair of Panthers produced hat trick-games in the high-scoring affair.

A rain and lightning delay caused the 7 p.m. match to start at 9:23 p.m., but GSU was still ready and scored in the fourth minute on a goal by Eddie Wilding. Wilding followed with a second goal 12 minutes later.

Within two more minutes, Cory Plasker scored and just a minute later Wilding added a third goal for his hat trick and a 4-0 GSU in the first 20 minutes.

Plasker added his second goal of the night in the 22nd minute. Then, Jad Elkhalil scored goals in the 23rd minute, the 30th minute and the 36th minute for his hat trick and GSU took an 8-0 lead into halfime.

In the second half, freshman Kwaku Adu and Rashid Alarape added goals and it was 10-0 with 20 minutes to play.

Ironically, the lights on the field poles went out with about 9:30 left on the clock, so the teams called the match by the light of the scoreboard.

GSU returns to the pitch on Saturday night at 8 p.m. vs. Oglethorpe at the GSU Complex.
