ATLANTA – Former Georgia State men's soccer standout CJ Cochran made his professional debut for the Atlanta Silverbacks of the North American Soccer League (NASL) Saturday, April 4 against the Indy Eleven.

"It felt really good," Cochran said about his debut. "I have been putting in a lot of time and energy working to become a better player and it payed off Saturday. I wasn't actually nervous because I was very focused on what I had to do. I was very confindent in the guys around me and I think that helped my nerves."

The Alpharetta, Ga. native started in goal in the place of the injured Steward Ceus. The game ended in a 1-1 draw and Cochran finished with three saves over 90 minutes. He was only beaten on a penalty kick by Don Smart in second-half stoppage time.

The 6-4 shot stopper is the first former GSU men's soccer player to play in a NASL match since Jordan Davis played for the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2011. Cochran and his teammates' next game is at home against the Ottawa Furry on Saturday, April 11. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
