MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia State's women's tennis team lost 6-1 to South Alabama Friday in Mobile, Ala. The Panthers fall to 7-8 while the Jaguars improved to 11-0.
The Jaguars won the doubles point, claiming an 8-3 win at No. 1 and an 8-1 victory at No. 3. Kristin Rehse and Niri Rasolomalala did not finish their match due to the clinch and maintain their team-best 10-3 record in doubles.
South Alabama's Laura Valkova rallied back from a 5-7 deficit in the first set to defeat Masa Grgan 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Rasolomalala lost 6-3, 6-0 on the No. 2 court, but Chaimaa Roudami defeated junior Michaela Meszarosova (Bratislava, Slovakia) 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4, giving the Panthers their lone point. Roudami leads the team in singles with a 9-5 dual record. USA took a 3-1 lead when Marcia Tere-Apisah fell 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot. South Alabama's Laura Matuskova outlasted Veronika Golanova 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5, and Rehse was narrowly defeated 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 at the No. 3 position.
Georgia State stays in Mobile to play Appalachian State in a neutral site match Saturday morning.
