* Georgia State (6-4) lost 6-1 to Old Dominion in the first of three road matches this weekend.
* Linn Timmermann recorded the lone GSU point with a straight-set win at No. 3 singles.
* The Panthers play No. 61 VCU on Saturday and No. 28 William and Mary on Sunday.
NORFOLK, Va. – Friday marked the beginning of a three-day road trip through Virginia as Georgia State's women's tennis team was defeated 6-1 by Old Dominion. Junior Linn Timmermann won at No. 3 singles to give GSU it's only score.
Timmermann improves to 4-2 at No. 3 singles with her third consecutive victory. The junior defeated Old Dominion's Adriana Rajkovic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. It was the only win for the Panthers on the day as Niri Rasolomalala, Kristin Rehse and Chaimaa Roudami each fell in three-set contests on the singles side.
Old Dominion controlled the doubles point with a 6-0 win over No. 40 Tarani Kamoe and Timmermann at the top match. It was just the second loss of the spring for the Panthers' top pair and the first since the season opener against No. 68 Maryland. The Monarchs secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Georgia State's weekend doesn't get any easier. The Panthers meet No. 61 VCU on Saturday in Norfolk for a neutral site match before traveling to Williamsburg, Va. to play No. 28 William and Mary, GSU's highest-ranked opponent this season, on Sunday. The Panthers are 2-1 in neutral site matches, but 0-2 in true road contests.
