WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest continued its impressive season with a 5-0 win over Georgia State Tuesday night at Spry Stadium. The Demon Deacons posted a fifth consecutive shutout and upped their consecutive scoreless streak to 529 minutes, 38 seconds, in posting a 10th shutout of its 14 games.
No. 2 Wake Forest (No. 1 RPI) improved to 11-1-2 while visiting Georgia State slips to 6-6.
Wake, who entered the match No. 10 in the NCAA in scoring, netted its third 5-0 win of the season. Host Wake Forest scored first at 11:23 in the match and last at 77:18. It was 3-0 at halftime. Five different Demon Deacons scored the goals this evening.
The Demon Deacons took 20 shots and GSU got off just six against the rugged defense. Goalkeeper Greyson Walldorff recorded nine saves tonight. GSU was shut out for just the second time this season.
Georgia State will prepare for a Saturday Sun Belt match at Hartwick with both teams tied for first place with 2-0 records.
