ATLANTA - The Georgia State men's tennis team defeated Bradley 4-1 at the Blackburn Tennis Center Saturday morning. After dropping the doubles point, the Panthers won four singles matches to clinch the win.

Georgia State lost the doubles point in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles. The Panthers had split their matches at two and three doubles, with Eric Baum and Jannis Koeke winning at No. 2 doubles 8-3 over Bradley's Ashton Kalhorn and Daniel Tiboldi. Robert Schulze and Sofiane Chevallier, at No. 1 doubles, lost to Hamish Weerasinghe and Justin Abrams 8-7 (7-1).

At No. 2 singles, Koeke cruised by Kalhorn 6-1, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Chevallier defeated Tiboldi 6-1, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Felipe Jaworski defeated Dan Rodefeld 6-2, 6-2. The clinching win came from Eric Baum, who defeated Weerasinghe 6-2, 6-4.

Robert Schulze, at No. 1 singles, was early in the third set when the match was called. Valentin Horvat won his first set and was late in the second set when his match was stopped.

"We did not play particularly well in doubles," assistant coach Cesar Vargas said. "However, I was very pleased to see our team regroup and compete hard in singles to get the job done."

This was the lone match of the weekend for the Panthers. They will be back in action on April 4 against DePaul in Piedmont Park.
