"It is a good sign for us coaches to come out like how we did in singles after losing the doubles point," head coach Joerg Barthel said. "We were very dominant in singles and played up to our potential. We had good signs of leadership today and our four freshmen played with a lot of confidence in their first college match and helped the team win."
The Panthers will have a short time off, as they host USC Upstate on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga. It will be the Spartans' first match of the season and the second for the Panthers.
