Live Scoring

Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. – Georgia State opened the spring season on Monday in 11th place, just seven strokes out of fifth at the SeaBest Seafood Invitational hosted by Jacksonville University. The 54-hole tournament is taking place at the TPC at Sawgrass PLAYERS Stadium Course, the same course that hosts The PLAYERS Championship each May.

The Panthers shot a morning round 304 and followed with an afternoon 313. After a first round scoring average of 78.40 for the 90-player field, things only slightly got better in the afternoon with a 77.08 stroke average.

Freshman Jonathan Grey shot rounds of 74 and 75 to stand at 5-over and tied for 13th with 18 holes to play on Thursday.

“We had some ups and some downs today,” commented head coach Joe Inman. “We made some really nice birdies, but we also had too many big numbers. The course is playing difficult, but I think we can put together a good round on Tuesday and move significantly up the leaderboard.”

Grey, who won twice in the fall and has never finished worse than 19th in four tournaments as a Panther, made three birdies in each of his first two rounds and is just four strokes outside of the top five.

Sophomore Davin White and junior Kevin Lee are tied for 30th entering the final round. White shot a pair of identical 77's to stand at 10-over. Coming off of a sixth place finish at the Jones Cup Invitational over the weekend, White played consistent golf, but a quadruple-bogey nine in his first round and a triple-bogey eight in his second derailed his round.

Lee shot a first round 76 and followed with an afternoon 78. He also played consistent golf, but a pair of double bogeys at the tough par-3 17th island hole led to his 10-over score.

Junior Tyler Gruca, who also played in the Jones Cup over the weekend, opened with a 77 and shot an afternoon 83 to stand at 16-over and tied for 59th. Each round got off to solid starts, but he struggled on the final few holes as the Panthers started on the middle of the front nine as a part of the 15-team shotgun.

Junior Ross Mclister rounded out the Panthers line-up and stands tied for 63rd after rounds of 78 and 83.

No. 26 Tennessee leads the field by six strokes and stands at 3-over entering Tuesday's final round. The Volunteers had the round of the tournament by 10 strokes, shooting a second round 9-under, 279. No. 30 Texas A&M stands in second at 9-over, followed by No. 46 Coastal Carolina at 20-over. Winthrop stands alone in fourth at 24-over, followed by Old Dominion and ETSU tied in fifth at 34-over.

Tennessee's Rick Lamb holds an eight-stroke lead entering the final round. Lamb shot a second round 65 and leads teammate Jay Vandeventer who stands 1-under par. Texas A&M's Drew Evans is alone in third at even par, followed by Jacksonville State's Tomasz Anderson and ETSU's Adrian Meronk, tied for fourth at 1-over.

Tee times for Tuesday's 18 holes begin at 8:30 a.m. with split tees. The Panthers will tee off the 10th hole at 8:30 a.m. with Francis Marion and Wofford. Live scoring for the tournament will be available through GolfStat.com.

Georgia State will return to the course Feb. 18-19 at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate to defend its 2012 team and individual titles in Hilton Head, S.C. The 54-hole tournament is hosted by Francis Marion.
