ATLANTA--A three-set victory from senior Maryna Kozachenko at the No. 6 singles match led the Georgia State women's tennis team to a 4-2 win against Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.

The Panthers battled to a 3-2 lead with Kozachenko's match remaining. The senior from Kiev, Ukraine, climbed back into the match after falling 6-2 in the first set with a 7-5 win in the second set. She broke serve against EKU's Marcela Jimenez late in the third set to take a commanding 5-4 lead. She eventually won the match on serve to complete a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory.

Graduate student Jocelyn Ffriend and sophomore Chaimaa Roudami won singles matches to set up Kozachenko's match-clinching victory. With GSU (4-5) trailing in the team score 2-1, Roudami earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 5 singles position to knot the score up. She defeated EKU's Milena Poffo. Ffriend played her fifth, third-set match of the season and came back to win a 6-7, 6-3, 6-0, match.

Junior Abigail Tere-Apisah, the No. 28-ranked player in the ITA National Singles rankings, put Georgia State on the board with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 position. She defeated Eastern Kentucky's Amadine Faouzi.

The match ended after singles play as GSU clinched the victory after earning the fourth point vs. Eastern Kentucky (5-3).

Georgia State, led by sixth-year head coach Miha Lisac, hosts Kennesaw State on Friday and then hosts No. 56-ranked Tulane on Sunday.
