Panthers Improve to 12th at Seminole Intercollegiate

Tallahassee, Fla. -Firing a 9-over 293, Georgia State jumped two spots in the standings on Saturday at the Seminole Intercollegiate to stand in a tie for 12th with 18 holes to play on Sunday.

Clemens Dvorak rebounded from an opening round 74 to shoot an even par 71 on Saturday and jump into a tie for 35th. The senior's round included three birdies during his second nine as the Panthers teed off on the tenth hole.

Teeing off on the difficult back nine, the Panthers struggled out of the gate, shooting 10-over on the first nine holes, but rebounded nicely to shoot 1-under on their second nine. Thru 36 holes, the Panthers are 1-over on the front nine of Southwood Country Club, but unfortunately 20-over on the back nine.

"We are playing the front nine really well, but have not figured out the back nine," commented head coach Joe Inman. "We got off to a slow start today, but finished really well. I hope that gives us some momentum heading into Sunday's final round.

"Other than a three-hole stretch on Friday, Clemens is playing very well for us this weekend. I look forward to him and the entire team putting together a great final round on Sunday."

Following an opening round 72, freshman Damon Stephenson shot a second round 74 to drop into a tie for 41st with 18 holes to play.

Freshman Davin White and sophomore Grant Cagle are tied for 59th with Sunday's final round to play after each shot 74 on Saturday. After getting off to a rough start, Cagle finished strong with a pair of birdies over the final four holes, shooting 1-under on his second nine.

No. 8 Georgia Tech shot a tournament low 10-under 274 to take a five stroke lead over No. 20 Florida State entering Sunday's final round. The Yellow Jackets are 16-under par, with the Seminoles standing at 11-under. Kennesaw State stands third at 1-over par, followed by Mercer at 2-over. Jacksonville rounds out the top five at 5-over par.

Florida State's Chase Seifert shot his second straight 4-under 67 to move to 8-under and hold a one-stroke lead over Kennesaw State's Jeff Karlsson. A trio of golfers are tied for fifth, including Georgia Tech's Anders Albertson, Florida State's Brooks Koepka and Jacksonville's Jamey Salmon, all at 4-under par.

The 18-team field will conclude play on Sunday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
