NEW YORK -- Twelve season bests and two personal records highlighted the two-day New Balance Collegiate Invitational for the Georgia State track and field squads. The Panthers return to action next weekend when they compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
DAY TWO
A pair of personal bests in the distance events highlighted day two. Both Katharine Showalter (3,000m) and Chris Harper (mile) set personal bests.
Running against a fast field, Showalter set a new personal best in the 3,000m with a time of 10:40.96.
On the men's side, Harper set a new career best in the mile run with a time of 4:18.02.
Junior Kacee Houle lowered her season best 5,000m time to 18:49.48.
In the sprint events, freshman Tatiana Colbert set a new team season best in the 200m with a time of 26.26.

DAY ONE
Georgia State track and field junior Brandy Swann placed third in the 500-meter run to highlight day one at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City on Friday. The Panthers also claimed eight season bests on the day.
Swann's third-place finish was also a season-best time of 1:13.13, placing only behind runners from Texas A&M and Southern California, while beating runners from several prominent schools from around the country including Baylor, LSU and Ohio State.
Sophomore Leah Norman also set a season best in the 500m with a time of 1:19.81, while fellow sophomore Tamara Moore earned a season best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.68.
For the second week in a row, junior Angelia Nugent set a season best in the 400-meter run with a time of 56.46.
Freshman Olivia Fisher set a season best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.63, while Gabby Brooks set a season best in the 400m with a time of 58.62.
Fisher also set a team season best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77.
Senior Lavina Dent set a season best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.28.
