Sherreard Holds on to Top-10 in Tallahassee

Georgia State men's golf remained in 11th of 15 teams and senior Tom Sherreard maintained a top-10 position in the second round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at Southwood Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla. Saturday.

"We had a tough day today," said Georgia State head coach Joe Inman. "But we didn't lose any ground. Tom's hanging in there, and we're hoping for a good finish for him. We'll have to come out tomorrow and hang tough to see if we can improve."

The Panthers followed up their opening round 299 with a second round 305 (+21).

Sherreard finished in a tie for seventh Friday, and slipped two spots to a tie for ninth Saturday on second round 74 (+3).

After taking a week off at the Samford Intercollegiate, the Maidstone, England native has continued to find success on the golf course. Sherreard is looking for his third top-10 and sixth top-20 of the season.

Junior Brent Paul slipped into a tie for 38th with a second round 76 (+5), after a first round 74. Paul held a share of 35th entering the day.

Junior Alan Fowler posted a 78 (+7), which dropped him one spot from 51st to 52nd. Fowler is coming off of a career-best T-4 at the Samford Intercollegiate.

Junior Alex Castro was the only Panther to improve in the second round, carding a 77 (+6) maintain a share of 63rd.

Sophomore Jared Cagle matched his first round 82 to drop to 74th place overall.

Host Florida State continues to lead the event, but their lead has dropped from seven strokes to one after carding a team score of 298 (+14).

North Carolina's Jack Fields held onto his individual lead with a second round 71. Fields carded the tournament's best round on the opening day, a five-under par 66.

North Texas and South Carolina posted the day's best team rounds, 298 (+5).
