Sophomores Lead the Way at the Hootie

Sophomore Tobias Rosendahl paced the 46th-ranked (Golfweek) Georgia State men's golf team with a 73 (+2), finishing in 17th place after the first round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay at the par 71, 7,282 yard Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.

Rosendahl's 17th place finish puts him in a tie with nationally ranked Clemson golfers #37 Ben Martin and #38 David May, and one shot behind #6 Matt Hill of North Carolina State.

Georgia State finished 12th of 15 in the team competition by posting a 303 (+19) during an extremely windy first round on Sunday.

Sophomore Alan Fowler finished 37th overall with a 75 (+4). Brent Paul carded a 77 (+6) to settle into 53rd place.

Behind the trio of sophomores, freshman Allen John posted a 78 (+7) for 62nd place and junior Tom Sherreard scored a 79 (+8) for 66th position.

Augusta State leads both the team and individual competition. As a team, Augusta State finished with a 286 (+2). Janne Kaske's 67 (-4) set the pace in the individual competition, putting him 6 shots ahead of the nearest Panther.

Trailing Augusta State, in order, are: Virginia (+4), #22 North Carolina State (+5), #23 Louisiana State (+5), #10 South Carolina (+7), #15 UCF (+7), Chattanooga (+8), #24 Wake Forest (+9), #5 Clemson (+10), North Carolina (+15), Kentucky (+16), Georgia State (+19), Maryland (+20), South Carolina-Aiken (+23), and College of Charleston (+23).
